IS IT CORRECT TO BEAT A POOR THIEF TO DEATH ?
Here I raise one of the most important questions before the society. Is it correct to beat a poor thief badly in this chilling winter to death?
The incident begins in the following manner:
January 4, 2011 morning 8:00 a.m a poor thief enters Kamla Nagar area, Delhi 110007. The poor thief rather I should say the poor man wore barely nothing. For the name sake he wore just a mere sweater which from no angle appeared to be warm, a cotton trouser (almost torn) and a pair of floaters. He already had a bandage on his left leg.
The man could not bear the chilling the cold and thus he cut the glass of one of the cars and sat inside the car. After a few hours the owner of the car comes to discover a man sitting peacefully in his car. As soon as the owner came, the man sensed that he had landed himself in grave trouble and thus tried to escape. Without hearing the poor man's say the owner of the car caught hold of him, gathered the other members of the colony and beat the poor man badly. They kept beating him till he fainted or rather I should say till he almost died. He was left on the road to die till finally someone got him tea and informed the police about the case, but what happened later? The Sheriff also beat him badly and finally took him away.
Please note:
1. Had the man been a thief he would have not merely sat in the car and would have stolen the car. He wouldn't have waited for the owner to arrive and beat him to death.
2. An argument would be - he did not ran away with the car because he did not know how to drive, but it is to be noted that had he broken the glass of the car with an intention to steel, he would have broken the glass of a brand new car - Wolkswagon's Vento which stood parked just behind the old car (Santro) whose glass he had broken/cut to save himself from the chilling cold.
3. He would have stolen the accessories of a better car and would have run away.
But he did not do any of such things. He just simply sat in the car to protect himself from the cold.
I admit the fact that what he did was not correct but at the same time I am also concerned about such cases which takes place almost everyday in our society. I want to highlight the fact that there are thousands and lakhs of such poor people who do not even have sufficient clothes to protect themselves against the chill of the season. What is government doing for such people? How is our economic policy trying to fight against such social yet economical problems?
There is simply no answer to my questions.
I am thoughtful about the whole incident because it happened in front of my own eyes. I want to do something for the oppressed class of our society. I want our country to become a better place to live and I am sure that its not only me who possess such a vision for India but almost the whole nation wishes the same, but is helpless.
I need your help and support to devise a solution for this social problem and that is why I most humbly request you to post your comments on this blog. So that I can consider your suggestions and strive to do something for the oppressed sections of the society.
Dear friends, I strongly believe that No body wishes to become a thief for the sake of mere pleasure. Every one deserves and strives for a respectable life. It is the circumstances that forces a person to convert in to a thief and indulge in an illegal affair. We need to understand the circumstances of such people and examine the Psychology of such people.
I do not deny the fact that there are people who have made burglary their profession for an easy living. Thus, by this article I want to do something for the people who have indulged or landed themselves in such acts due to some sort of social problem. For ex. The case that i just mentioned in my story shows that the man indulged in the act just to protect himself from the cold.
Friends I have a vision for the society which can not be achieved till you support me and donate your ideas. With this I invite each one of you to debate over this issue and lay down your constructive arguments.
P:S: LET US ALL STRIVE TO ESTABLISH A CHANGE BY DOING SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE FOR THE SOCIETY.
